Application checklist (Please include all the following with your name and email in
the top right-hand corner):
1. Cover letter introducing yourself and your commitment to the Spirit Play method
2. Photograph of yourself
3. 5 page essay on why you think that you would make a good Spirit Play trainer (if more
comfortable with other media, may substitute audio or video tape for a portion of the writing). Look at
criteria list and respond as to your qualifications. Be as creative as you wish.
4. Formal Resume or CV, include training date for Spirit Play and any experience with Spirit Play at
a church or other setting
5. A letter of support from a colleague, your DRE, RE committee, church member, or individual
parent: someone who knows you well as modeling right relationship and Spirit Play values. Provide email
and phone number for person. Letter must be a part of the packet, not sent separately.
6. Supporting documents: copies of newsletter column about Spirit Play, church school
prospectus, workshop description, worship service, etc. up to 10 pages; copies of pertinent information
only. (optional)
7. $75 nonrefundable application fee. You may be placed on a waiting list if for any reason
someone else chooses not to begin the program. (Make check payable to Nita Penfold, write “Spirit
Play training application fee” in memo line)
8. All documents should be placed in a pocket folder with your name, address, phone
number and email on the front.
9. All documents should have your name and email at top right.

11. No Deadline at Moment: You will be called for an phone or Skype interview after your packet is
received and will be notified if you have been accepted into the program or placed on the waiting list. At
that time you will receive a reading list and acceptance form that will be due with your first tuition payment.
