Spirit Play Training Costs:
for bookings arranged after January 31, 2009

Basically, church sponsor charges participants enough to cover costs of training or applies for a grant to
cover it.  Churches usually charge people outside their church about $150 to $175 to cover the training
costs if there is airfare and hotel involved.  Church or district sponsor is also responsible for registering
participants, collecting money, and lunch for the day.

Costs:
$200 deposit once you have booked a date with a trainer below.  Deposit sent to Nita Penfold, Spirit Play
Director, 5 Walnut Street, Melrose MA 02176.
Cost of travel expenses including taxi, baggage fees, food, and stay for 2 nights/3 days homestay or hotel
as needed by your trainer.  Unless otherwise negotiated with your trainer, all airfare and hotel or homestays
will be set up and paid for ahead of time by the sponsor.  An invoice of the other expenses will be sent after
the training.  For local driving, the cost is .55 per mile which includes gasoline.
$1000 honorarium due day of training for a 9am to 5 pm training for
up to 15 people.  
There is no discount for fewer participants.

Cancellation fee once date is held: $200.      If you reschedule there is a $100 fee for changing the date.  
Please make sure that you have enough interest before scheduling a date to avoid fees.
We can also arrange a training midweek, or several evenings in a row.  

At Sponsoring Church:
1.  Room to do Spirit Play model classroom with rug on floor without chairs and tables if possible but with
shelves (this is flexible, we have used tables as shelves in some instances)--Trainer will bring stories, need
access to 12 to 20 medium (12" or smaller)  to small baskets (one large one), need access to about 15
medium size trays (plastic are fine with smooth surface; in some cases we have used cookie sheets as a
substitute) and art materials you probably have in your resources, need about 15 small rugs, either mats or
roll up ones (in some cases we have used bath towels instead for the training). Need crackers for feast at
model classroom and pitcher for water with small (bathroom size) cups and napkins.

of art supplies needed for training.  Please make sure that room has been cleaned and dusted.  If you
already have a Spirit Play room set up, please let your trainer know what stories you have available and
make copies of the scripts for use during our model classroom time.
2.  Room for gathering, food, slides, discussion with chairs for participants--maybe a parlor or more formal
room?  Large table set up for resources, name tags for participants and post-it notes.
3.  3 or 4 rooms for practicing stories (can double duty rooms above)
4.  Access to LCD projector if available.  May be able to use slide projector if enough notice.
5.  Copies of packet for each person--PDF file to copy and assemble will be sent to you when deposit is
received.  Please do not give out ahead of time, but only to those who come on day of training.
6.  Lunch for participants                                                                                         
7.  Childcare if possible for participants
Other:
Participants will receive a small certificate for certification purposes and be invited to join our Yahoo group.
Your trainer will bring copies of CD with 265 stories, lessons, and other materials for each person
Trainer will need a person willing to act as the Doorkeeper for the model classroom; either extra person or
participant in training who can arrive by 8:30 am or the day before when trainer is setting up.
Names and e-mails and churches of everyone participating as soon as possible and an indication of whether
they have had any Montessori or Godly Play training or workshop experience should be sent to the trainer
no later than the week before the training.  
Your flyer should give participants a heads-up that they should read Spirit Play: A Manual for Liberal
Religious Education Programs, available through the www.spiritplay.net website.
